''Old Photos''

Some photos that have been ‘‘aged’’ a bit, let me know what you think and how I can improve the photos to make them look like the real thing such as lighter, darker, more yellowish or whatever.

TIA

That is a really cool idea, Maybe a little bit more yellowish on the black and white one…

U need those AA guns!!![:P][:D]

They look great![angel][angel][angel] they have that look of being developed in stale chemicals that caused the photos to fade to brown.
Now, for the facts[:-^]

Thanks for the input rebelreenactor and didfal!

When I start building airplanes again I want to try and and make convincing pictures that will make people have to look at them carefully to figure out if its real or a model.

I like the low contrast in the top photo. You may want to look at WW II color German photos to see how the colors are shifted. Early color film was not equally sensitive to light reflected from different colored objects.

When I “age” a photo, I also add noise (to simulate large grains in a photo), scratches (“painted” off-white lines), and stains. I don’t know what you’re using for image editing, but Photoshop has a lot of tools useful for ageing. This is a pic I did combining two digital images. Maybe you can get some ideas from it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Pixilater,

I could use all the advice I can get!
The aged photos are what I had in mind when I started my photography base, I want my future models to look just like the full size planes as seen in my books.

Both excellent pics. Perhaps the colour one would have benefitted from being taken from a slightly lower angle, but the finish is amazingly good [bow]

Thanks Chris!

Ageing the photos is another aspect of my photobase project, no sense in making the photobase if the pictures ruin the effect I am after. I have seen many great looking models that were let down by poor photography, I intend to learn enough about photographing models now so that when the photobase is done I should be able to produce interesting and realistic pictures.
