Well, after not building anything since I was probably 14 I decided to dive back in with a Tie Fighter build.
Here are a few pictures of the progress. I tell you the tools and techniques definitely have improved lol.
BTW just turned 60

Hi Tech49, welcome back to the hobby! Your build is looking good so far, I look forward to see your progress.
Just a little PSA for the returning hobbyist: I also recall model building back when I was 14. I had no regard for safety back then. I remember spray painting in my folks basement for hours with no ventilation, getting paint on my bare hands, not wearing any respirator, fumes building up to dangerous levels, and doing this about 3 feet away from the furnace pilot light
All this to say: Don’t do things like you remember as a 14 year old when it comes to safety: Be sure to protect your lungs and skin!
Hello and welcome to FSM
Welcome Jack! You’re making nice progress and I look forward to seeing more of your builds.
Welcome to the Forum Jack! You’ve picked an excellent kit to start with!
As others have said, a lot has changed in the past 46 years. Glues, tools and paints have all improved vastly. I agree with @RobH, don’t forget safety!
Yeah I spent a bit of time setting up a collapsible airbrush booth with a 6 inch duct fan and a carbon filter on the back end of it. It definitely moves some air.
