Old kit found

Hello,
I have come across a couple of sub kits. There from the Hunt for the Red October. One is the Uss Ohio with a Sh-60 Seahawk and the other is the Red October. I am sure that both of these kits are discontinued I think. If they are discontinued does anyone know when they were discontinued. They have been opened but the grids are still sealed in plastic. Does anyone know what they might bee worth?
Thank you ,

Seaknight,

There were two releases because of the movie “THFRO”. One was the typhoon class in 1/400th. scale, it had the REALLY rediculous (sp) sonar doom on the front of the sub. The second was a more realistic version minus the doom. the “Dallas” (hunter/kiler) sub came with both kits. The Ohio Class sub (shoul be in 1/350th.) was never in the movie, they just packaged it up to get some milage from us poor defenseless model builders. You can find them on eBay from time to time. The Sea Hawk kit has a multiple past. I first saw it in THFRO way back in 1988. It has appeared in Revell boxes in the 1990s and Accurate Miniatures (the guys know for the awesome Mustang, TBM and B-25 kits) as well.

I don’t think the kit as a whole is is that valuable unless there is some Tom Clancy/Red October collector’s market out there. The kits have been reboxed, reissued on several occasions.

The Red October with the sonar lump may be valuable to the “what if” crowd. It sets the kit apart from the regular issue Typhoon. I may be wrong, but I think these are actually DML/Dragon kits.

I’ve got the complete line of 1/100 helicopter kits that included the SH-60B, UH-60, HH-60, AH-64, UH-1 and AH-1G.
