Over on Cybermodeler, they announced new releases from Revell in 1/48.Two1/48 ones caught my eyes: a reissue of the A-6E TRAM Intruder, always good to see,and a new one, long overdue in 1/48 a PV-1 Ventura!!! [t$t]
For the builders of large scale subjects… new in 1/32: a HE-111P and an AR-196A as new kits, and a reissue of their 1/35 H-13H.[Y]
Some good news that wont break the bank I would say.
I could swear that Lindberg had a 1/48th scale Ventura once upon a time, but I might be wrong… It’s been a lot of years… I checked at Old Model Kits DOT com and they didn’t have anything show up, but that just means they themselves don’t have one in stock, doesn’t mean it didn’t exsist…
But judging from Revell’s new kits (actually, Revell of Germany), it’d likely be new… Or at least a rebox of another manufacturer… I think the F4U-5 kit is a rebox, for instance… Same with the Mk IX Spitfire… It’s not the old Monogram kit… Revell USA is doing the Monograms…
Thanks for the good news! And I already have the decals for the “Coral Princess” USMC nightfighter! I also saw that Hobbyboss is going to release a 1/48 AU-1!!! If they follow their Hellcat releases, then it will have folding wing option. The AU-1 is a hole in my Corsair collection that needs filling. The Revell Intruder sounds good too along with the B-52 w/X-15.
Hasegawa has an AU-1 in 1/48… Should still be some around… The Revell Germany F4U-5 would build into an AU-1 nicely as well, with the addition of the pylons…
I’m psyched about the PV-1, also, and I asked the same question, whether RM developed this one on their own, or picked up another maker’s kit. If it’s the FM kit, I’d be leery of it, and I’d let someone else dive in first, or wait for the online reviewers to have a look and put up some images. If it’s a new model, that’s the best scenario. Of course, if it did originate with another maker, RM could certainly have modified and improved it. That would be a good scenario, too.
@Hammer–I don’t recall Lindberg ever doing the PV-1, at least not in 1/48, but you’ve got me curious, I’m going to see what I can find.

Revell has never touched multimedia kits like FM does. I was reading on Internet Modeler, where I found these pics, that the PV-1 is an all new, new tooled kit of their own. The Heinkel will be co release with Revell Germany. Both of those shots are from iHobby Expo in Chicago this week.
