OH-69A Acoma Scout - A fun what-if before the New Year.

A fun what-fi of the Blue Thunder helicopter.

Steve,

Neat idea for an old “Movie” kit! I have one in my stash. Thanks for sharing. I may have to dig out my copy of the movie and watch it again.

Very creative idea, and nice work. I would lean twords it being a AH-69A, for attack, versus a scout giving the heavy machine gun.

Well, I went with Observable Helicopter due to the Kiowa “Warrior” naming convention. Which doesn’t follow the AH-58D designation, even though it can attack as well.

That is true, the Kiowa was desinged as a observation bird, originally designated OH-58. Didnt mean my comments as a criticism, sorry if it sounded that way, very nice work, and cool idea!

Naaa, I didn’t take it that way. I was just clarifying my thinking.

Well actually you are both a little wrong because I doubt we will ever see true attack helicopters in the Army if and when the AH-64 is finally retired. The latest name crave here at Rucker is the ARH naming convention and that stands for Armed Reconnaissance Helicopter. We had a ARH-70 for a little while before it was cancelled and the Army is now working on an AOA (Alternative of Analysis) on a new armed reconnaissance helicopter. It will be interesting to see if all future scout/attack helicopters will become ARHs or whether they will revert back to the older AH and OH names.

Happy New Year and BTW that is a sweat what-if build.

Charlie

We at Bell at working on that program now. (AOA)

You work at Bell? Any chance you could dig up some pics of Hueys being assembled??

Cool!

I could, but I’d probably get fired.
