Official Ho229 Group Build

[dto:]…and just to shatter another myth…the 229 was not really designed from inception to be “invisible” to radar or stealthy; in fact radar was not even developed when the Horton brothers began their experiments w/ flying wings…it just turned out by chance that the 229 was less of a radar signature than a standard a/c…

As far as merging with another GB…that would take the fun outta it…that’s what I feel will make this GB more interesting is that the builds will be so similar it will be interesting to see what the participants do w/ the same kits and with the same issues…and how they finish the a/c…

Long live 229…

I know it wasn’t built as a Stealth aircrfat, i hadn’t realised anyone had suggested it had or that the Germans even knew of the concept. Its just that it does have stealth qualities.

I would love the chance to build mine, but i am upto my neck, i have already had to turn down a couple of GB’s i would love to take part in.

Viva la Revolucion! Viva la 229!

Depends on how long the GB goes Manny, as ~gasp~ I don’t have one in the stash… yet. I’ll keep checking in as it shapes up. Lack of options shouldn’t be a big deal, no reason a GB has to have 50+ builders either. I’m involved in the P-38 build that is going on right now, a smaller group but it’s easier to keep track of who’s doing what.

Manny - diorama with a wrecked 229 and a killer fruit tree - think about it!!

So what dates Manny?

I was thinking Feb 29 (2/29) but being European I’m assuming you’d be going with Sept 9 (22/9)?

On a more seroius note I’d considered doing a 229 built under license by the Japanese. We’ll see how it goes…

Try a contest vendor table. I picked up the Dargaon 1/48th 229 for ~$10 a little over a year ago. What a steal!

ya, I’m searching…

Hans, maybe a captured 229 in a US or Brit Hanger ??.. humm…[:P]

you could paint 229 on the side, didn’t they slap painted numbers on the sides of captured AC after the war in white ??.. humm… ??..

Evilbay shows I can get one for about $32AUD from HK. Still dont have the money though. There could be another option to broaden the kits. Either aforementioned “Stealth Jet” or a Kit(s) worth $229. With the SLT-56 Truck and Leopard 2 combo I’m starting soon (maybe) that would be just about 229 in worth. I just didnt have to sneak it past the wife (isnt this how it started anyways).

Andrew

Manny,

I would have loved to been in the GB but I already did the kit.

But I think that the pictures of that build above is one of the cooler builds I have seen. I guess I have a soft spot for this A/C for some reason.

Come on guys, this is supposed to be fun…the Revell of Germany 72nd is a kit that is much easier to find than the Dragon one–and cheaper…

As far as dates, well we could start it Dec 1 and set the tentative ending date as 2-29-2011 in keeping with the 229 theme…of course we could stretch it out a bit if needed…

As I stated earlier, part of the attraction of the build is that it WILL be the same a/c in either the ROG or Dragon incarnation…so we can really compare notes on build issues, etc…and I don’t care if we don’t have 50 people in the GB.

Fun, fun and more fun…

ya. what he said… [dto:]

doing it for the FUN… of the 229 theme… if 2/29/11 is not enought time… extend it 29 days…

Now, the best part of all this is gonna be the group badge design!!! Any suggestions?

The silhoutte of a 229, lit up by a spotlight, Batman-style!

Ah heck rope me in, Manny put his voodoo on me and now I’ll have to do a Ho-229 too.

oooh… humm… thats interesting to… [:)]

You caught me lurking…though I can’t enter the build, I’ll see if I can’t whip up a satisfactory badge for ya. No pressure there, eh? Yikes.

Hustle it up Jon, I already sent him 3 options… that I spent all of ten minutes on! It’s Group Build Badge Smackdown, baby!! [;)]

AND IN THIS CORNER,wieghing in at…

Lets get ready to RUMMMMMMBBBBBBLLLE !!!

where is Lou Albano when ya need em ???..[:|]

This is what I get for following a thread I had no intention of joining, haha [:D] Oh well, game on, I’ll have em up in a few…

185 pounds soaking wet. I’m built for speed, not power!!

Jon, I know what you mean, I was lurking & got sucked in too. Now I’m going to feel obliged to join up. Of course, I’ll have to find a kit first…

Well in my limited amount of time, here is what I came up with…

First, this one isn’t my favorite, but its not bad:

Second, this one is my favorite:

Of course, I can resize them but I figured the bigger the better you know…
