Odorless Mineral Spirits versus White Spirits

Is there any major differences between the quart can of odorless mineral spirits I can buy at Home Depot for the same price as a specialized 2 ounce bottle of white spirits from a hobby shop?

I would be using it in the context of weathering washes and filters with enamel paint.

The odorless mineral spirits have been working great for me. I’ve been using for 20+ years.

I too went with the box store mineral spirit for working with enamels and found no appreciable difference, well except price and odor. Both are “organic” in nature so.

I use Kleen Strip oderless mineral spirits, works fine, is not totally odorless but well acceptable. I thin enamel paint for brushing with it. Wash model parts before painting using it. I would thin a wash but I don’t really do enamel washes. I have shot enamels thinned for airbrushing with it but prefer lacquer thinner or another combo but it does do it. I think you will find in terms of workability no difference to White Spirits but a bit more odor. Turpinoid is another matter, that’s a different beast.

Hmmm…very interesting. I guess I will pick up a can next time I am in a home improvement store and forego the hobby version.
