O.T. Cubs move on!

This is a little followup thread to the past one. You’d think that the way the media is talking, the Cubs have won the World Series. My paper is saying “The Ghosts of 1908 Erased”. What? They still have two more series to win. This isn’t like yesteryear when all you had to do is win one series and that was it. Still, the Cubbies won their first post-season series since 1908. All they need now is to win two more series and the fans will torch the city of Chicago like nothing ever seen since Ms. O’ leary’s cow.

Well from a life long Atlanta fan, congrads to the Cubs. Thier fans deserve the feeling that we had in Atlanta 10 years ago. Maybe they can make it all the way to the series and be playing the Red Sox, that could be a great series in two great ball parks.

And it’s starting to look like the chance for a Boston / Chicago Series is still alive. It is something that I would truly enjoy seeing, but only the next few days will tell for sure.
Chris, as a lifelong Cubs fan, I’ve had to endure the Cubbies getting trounced by the Braves on numerous occasions over the last few years. I’m almost as ecstatic that the Braves are eliminated, that the Cubs did it is just icing on the cake. (Payback from 1998) No offense.

None taken Demon69, after watching them get to the series so many times in recent years and only winning it once, I’m ready to see one without the Braves or Yankees. Let some teams that have not been there in a long time really fight for it.

Being here in Los Angeles, I usually root for the Dodgers (sometimes I think, “Why do I bother?”), but I’m pulling for the Cubs now! How about that home run Sammy Sosa tied the game with last night in the bottom of the ninth! I"ve never seen a baseball move so fast! Pity the Marlins stole his thunder by winning the game.

After that “launch” by Sosa last night, and the general stomping that the Cubs handed to the Marlins, is there any doubt that the Cubbies are for real? On Sammy’s dinger, anything that travels that far and that fast needs a stewardess!

Sammy’s not the biggest or the strongest player. However, he has bat speed. My friend whose played baseball for many years says bat speed is more important than weight of bat as far as homeruns are concerned. Sammy must have some bat speed! [:0]
