Hi Everyone I Was Wondering What Shade Of O.D. Would be close or exact to the ones on a UH-1C huey in 1970
I use Medium Green. It looks pretty close to me.
Really any green color in the medium green, OD green range will do. They faded and discolred with age and use.
Olive Drab doesn’t take too long to fade in that climate and it picks up all sorts of stains as well.
Whatever you use I would tint it with the color of the ground in the AO. Ones I recall would be a lovely shade of red.
Military Olive? Hi!, H.A.
I used to think as a kid that Green Olives were for Soldiers! Kidthink, don’t ya love it? The thing is O.D. and it’s many iterations did not stand up well to the conditions over there. A nice Olive seat cushion would be a sickly Grey/Ashy/Green with some Canvas natural color showing through by the end of a tour.
Fabrics suffered from “Jungle Rot” very quickly. the Humidity, Heat, Monsoon Season all took their toll very fast.I would say if you stick to the colors I mentioned, mixed together on the same cushion or fabric you’d be just fine. Don’t forget to put in some ground in Deep red stains from the mud that was self evident too. Once it got on your clothes and equipment it weren’t green no more! It acted just like Sandpaper!
Hey!Heavy Arty(Would that be short for, Heavy Artillery? Perchance?)
A new Birdy, oh thank Goodness! Now weather the heck out of them UNLESS you prefer the “New” look! Oh ! One more Question. Quintiliani-Sicilian/ Romanase/Veniciano ?(I hope you don’t mind me asking. I don’t have very many Paisanos around New Braunfels,Tx.
