Novus 2 polish and cleat coat and decals

Hey all,

Working on a Blue Angeles Hornet, my first gloss finish. Also my first time using Novus (had to remove the seam on the canopy)

Anyways, after laying the color coat and sanding, going through grits up to 8000, the finish was foggy, so I tried the Novus and it worked great on the color coat.

Washed the model to make sure there wasnt any residue and now the Tamiya X22 gloss is curing and I was wondering if I could use the Novus on the clear. Would it work?

Also, after I decal and assuming I lay down a good layer of clear, do you think I could use the polish and not effect the decals?

HAHA lastly, maybe with the clear I can just wet sand and it wont get cloudy?

Sorry for the long post and lots of questions. Like I said, my first gloss job and this model has been such a bear to complete i dont want to ruin it in these final steps.

Thanks!

John

Sanding clear coat will make it matt/cloudy. Polishing is much better, but with most good gloss clears, it is not necessary.

Thanks. I may have to polish then. I laid down the gloss just like I did with the color coats, a nice wet coat but it didn’t come out just right. Not sure what I did wrong but like I said it was my first attempt at a gloss finish. Usually I just sand the gloss coat smooth and decal, but I usually build military air craft so I’m not usually worried about gloss levels just smoothness.
