A couple of days ago I received a long-awaited bucket list item, Revell’s 1/24th-scale Routemaster bus. At the moment I’m inclined to use the Scania engine option, this because virtually every build article I’ve found insists on the British Leyland engine. The problem is that after several hours of searching via Google, etc., I’m finding almost no information on the Scania. Remarkably, the only photos I’ve found of the engine are shots of the replica in, yes, the Revell kit. Does anyone know of a source for detailed photos of the real thing? The location and routing of the fuel lines are especially important. Please advise.
Here’s a link to a comprehensive build review from The Modelling News site. In it the reviewer mentions that the Scania engine was rarely used so he discarded it. This is a great kit and makes a terrific looking model. Enjoy
Thank you, sir. I’ve long been a daily reader of the Modelling News, and I will be tracking their multi-part build article for this project. I did manage to find a few - literally, 4 or 5 photos - of a restored Scania enigne in a Routemaster. I’m surprised, however, by the apparent lack of detailed information on the engine itself. Again, I appreciate your reply. Happy Holidays to you!
