Next project (ie: what I got for Xmas)

I went to my hobbyshop awhile ago to decide what I wanted to get for Xmas in the model department this year. I decided to go with this plane:

So here’s the stuff I got to do it. [^]

First you need a model:

Can’t loose with this 1/32 kit. It is awesome. My first Academy kit, I usualy get Tamiya. I am not dissapointed.

and I got a detailed resin kit with tons of cockpit goodies:

I need to convert my kit to an F/A18A that Canada uses from the C it currently is so it came with a new tail as well:

and, of course, the Leading Edge decals:

I am very excited about this build, I think it will be awesome. I just have to figure out all that resin stuff and getting it together. Thanks to Uncle Rick from Uncle Bills hobby in Cagary for setting me up!!

That should turn out to be a Sweet Build.

I didn’t know Academy was that detailed, looks GOOD!

Bud

For a minute there i thought, you were you gonna pull an Eddie on us and convert a 18 to a 16. The Canada pic angle at first glance, i thought it was a 16 [:-^] How are the leading edge decals? Easy to work with?

PICS!!!

I look forward to seeing the build man [:D]

Dubau that is actually the afermarket resin parts that are pictured (the blue ones). The detail is awesome, I think it’s going to be a lot of fun to paint but the instructions are a little vague and they’re photocopied so it’s hard to see the pictures.

Mist086 I’ll tell you how the decals are when I get there. [:D] From what I’ve heard they are awesome.

I will be sure to post pics!

We should have a hornet group build.

It’s not, that is a Black Box set. I’m working on one now.

Sweet looking setup there Maxpower. looking forward to seeing you build it up. I’ve heard good things about Uncle Bill’s from other forum members in Calgary. I’ll have to check it out next time I’m in Calgary.

The same one? Hows it going together? I’m finding the instructions a little hard to follow. I can read a RR engine manual but forget the instruction for a black box set. [:-^]

Good, but the back part with the big hole on it, for the radio comp. the fing thing is warped, and it is a pain in the 6. that is the only thing with the cockpit. Now the intakes just suck.

I put some pics up tonight.

Wow, you are so luck MaxPower, I got no modeling stuff. [:(]

That resin detail set looks pretty nice, I’ve only ever worked with resin seats and a set of radial engines. I can appreciate how much that will add to the kit. When you’re done you’ll have to show off the pics!

So I was at Unlce Bills today and he said you started going to his Sunday afternoon get togethers, how are they, I’ve never been out to one yet.

The Sundays are fun. It’s nice to meet people that are into the same hobby and want to talk about it. I’ve learned a fair bit already being around those guys too. It’s casual and fun. Just bring a model and a few tools. Maybe a little money. lol.
