I would like to start a diorama of the WWII and I never did any modeling before, I would like to receive as many information you can give to me about how to build, paint, etc. A kind of basic course in plastic modeling. Thank you very much
Welcome to FSM, Marman1974! It’s good to have you aboard.
You’ve come to the right place for all things modeling. If you want to learn anything at all, just search for your particular topic of interest, and several replies should come up. If it doesn’t, feel free to ask anyone here anything you want. Most importantly, enjoy!

Welcome to FSM Marman. Like Demono has already said, browse through the forums and you will get lots of answers to your questions. But if you find you’re not finding something, don’t be afraid to ask.
Enjoy the forums.
Since Robert and demono69 have already sort of showed you around, I just wanted to extend another hearty welcome from the folks at the “dark side” (armor). We look forward to hearing from you.

Welcome Marman1974,
If you could be a bit more specific on the type of diorama…
Would you be modeling German, American, British, Japanese armor? The most popular armor scale is 1/35 (although there are many great 1/72 kits available)
It is, however, much easier to find 1/35 diorama buildings, signs and such. Do you have a certain “scene” you want to model? Verlinden makes outstanding resin buildings, scene displays and bases that can help you along.
As for the Armor, anything from Tamiya, DML Dragon, Academy and now Trumpeter are (in my opinion) great purchases. I have also heard some very good things about Revell-Germany 1/72 scale, if you go that route.
Welcome Marman1974
I agree with Erock68 it would help to decide what scale and what type of kits you want to build.
When it comes to figures your best bet is 1/35 and then just post your questions on the forums and you will get the right responses
Hello Guys,
Thank you very much for the first advices. I bougth a Willys Jeep and some US figures both 1/35. I think I am ready to start. but it would be nice a step-by-step guide for beginners. Do you know any good books and/or websites for beginners?
Thank you
Hey again Marman. As far as websites for beginners go, you’re already here.
As far as building a dio ith what you have, first of all picture what you have in mind. A jeep with a couple of figs near a fence, on a road, etc. Then look through some historical books of that era. Find a pic close to what you want and go form there. As for the techniques on building the terrain, check out the Diorama Forum, many of the answers you seek are already there, if you don’t find what you’re looking for , ask, but try to be specific with your question. As for the building and painting of the Jeep, check out the Armour Forum. Lot’s of answers there too, but once again, specific questions will get lots of answers.
I look forward to seeing your posts in these forums and helping where I can.
Welcome to FSM! You have come to the right place, don’t be afraid to ask questions. When you start your project if you run into a problem or just want to know how others would do the same thing just ask.[;)]
