Hi im new here but not new to the model world. would like to know if any of you have painted ghost flames on the model cars with a rattel can ? if so how? i have for years now not tried to much in the way of custum paint on models . but i have a 78 monte carlo and would like to paint it like the one i drive (minus all the hydrolics stuff) also do any of you know if they make a kit that has the same frame size that will fit the 78 monte carlo that is sold at wal-mart it is a jumper car /lowrider. thanks any help with this will be welcome. [:D]
I read in a book about car modeling a while back, that you could use bare metal foil, draw the flames on that and then use a new blade to cut your pattern. It should be thin enough not to leave a ridge, and you can determine exactly where you want the flame pattern to be. I haven’t done this, but there were pics in the book illustrating how to. Might be worth a shot, but I’d practice on something old first.
Also, welcome to fsm!

I’d really like to try flames too. Never done it, but have read lots about it. It’s quite tedious and there doesn’t seem to be any secret shortcuts. Just draw the mask and then apply it and go to town with the paint. Check the last issue of ScaleAuto. There was a pretty good article on flames in there…

HEY,
I have to agree with murray, the last issue of Scale Auto is a great place to start. Also i suggest getting an airbrush, it may be a bit easier.
