hello my name is Scott - I am 66 and recently retired, I was doing a lot of searching and found this site to post on and interact with - I am not quite sure how to post pictures ( personal profile included) and comment etc. or if I am in the right place for this, but I will will figure it out. I see many topics that interest me here- I go in phases cars, planes, tanks, trains so what ever I get the itch to go a direction, I seem to do a “series” of models on a topic. looking forward to posting and commenting! (looks like I need to click on the create topic bar?)

I will see how this downloads- here are pictures of one on my latest builds - at the moment Japanese cars seem to interest me as we don’t see many here in the states - this one a GTR - tried to make it as a close to the cover art as possible- testers lacquer green with wet look clear coat - changed the wheels to wanabee deep dish as the kits wheels looked out of proportion

thank you for your comment! there is a bit of orange peel in certain lighting conditions working on trying to correctly apply clearcoats so it will not end up that way - sometimes it works and some times it doesn’t -always learn something new every time

Have you tried Novus polish? My car friends swear by it. Comes in 3 stages: Heavy grit, Fine Grit and Final polish.
thanks - I will look into it - I tried tamya products but not much luck - just a little hesitant that I would burn through the clear coat …

I would start with the Fine polish (#2) and gently work that in.

That turned out really nice. I especially like that you changed the wheels when the kit ones didn’t look right — that kind of thing can make a bigger difference to the finished model than people realize.
I haven’t built cars since I was a kid. I think the last one was a red Lamborghini Countach, probably 45 years ago. I’m mostly an airplane guy these days, so when your modeling cycle works its way back around to aircraft, I’ll especially look forward to seeing what you do there too.
And your photos show this one off well. The green really works on that car, especially with the deep-dish wheels.

Another build of mine that I finished just recently is related to this one - I was curious to see how the 1/32 snap kit of the GTR by Aoshima would stack up against the 1/24 scale one, So I ordered it, when I unboxed it it was pre-colored silver and really looked like a toy so I finished it with testers extreme lacquer - graphite dust and wet look clear coat. I had never used the applied decals (they were not wet slide) included in the kit before, but was pleasantly surprised how well they looked and how detailed they were and pretty easy to apply as well. Overall the chrome detailing came out great. It was interesting to me that this kit perhaps seemed like it had slightly different proportions than the 1/24 scale one and it did not have quite the same " stance" - pictures attached
