G’day,
I’ve been sniffing glue and slopping paint for around 18 years.
Mainly 1/48 aircraft, some 1/35 armour, 1/12 Motorcycles, 1/20 and 1/24 Cars, race and street. Just started getting into 1/72 aircraft.
I don’t model for competition, just for enjoyment, and I look forward to learning from you good contributors…!
Welcome to the forum, tjp1976 !
I’m also a 1/48 aircraft modeller (WW II only). Look forward to seeing your posts !
welcome to the forum TJ . I understand alot of people dont do this hobby for the competition . I do it for fun too, but I have to admit, some of the shows have been really fun to go to. I mean, theres hundreds of people there who do what I do. Its like a big real life 3d forum! Ive learned alot just by going there and talking with fellow modellers. Theres only one little problem I have. How do you ever know what was missing, or what was done wrong on the work youve entered. I dont mean by being a sore loser and wanting to know why I didnt win. I would juts like to know sometimes what it is I can do to improve my work. How can you learn if its not pointed out. anyway, just my lil tid bit on the show perspective.
Welcome to FSM tjp1976. Great to have you come and join us with your eclectic tastes.
Build for your own enjoyment you say, nothing better than that !!!
Enjoy the forums.
Welcome to the forums, tjp1976.
A nice variety of subjects you have there.
I have never done a 1/12 motorcycle kit but, I would really like to try my hand at one of those Tamiya Bimota’s [:p]
Welcome, glad to have you on board. Say you wouldn’t know of a nice 1/72 kit of the CA-15 would you?
Hi tjp. Nice to have you around. You seem to have a wide range of interest there (quite like me before I turn my focus on armor, he-he-he.) Hope to see you more in the forum.
And “more” is better than “some” when it comes to armor.
He-he-he
Erock68: I can thoroughly recommend the Tamiya Bimota Tesi 1D.
Woody: No mate, I wouldn’t mind getting hold of one of those myself.
I mainly do German armor but, now and then, I like to do something I wouldn’t normally do (hey, it keeps me honest) So, after replying to this post, I went and ordered it:

The only problem with the Tesi, is do you display it “Dressed” or “Undressed” ??!! Tamiya make gorgeous motorcycle engines.
Welcome to FSM, tjp1976. Hope you enjoy the site. [:D]
Lectori salutem,
a person who mainly prefers road commuting vehicles than armour but finds great satisfaction in aircrafts (military and civilian as well) and ships. So gluesniffersall around the world, UNITE!!!
tjp1976.
Welcome to the group!! I too can highly recommend that Bimota Tesi. I built it many many years ago when I was just starting to get back into the hobby. I didn’t do a great job, but it certainly was a nice kit. It will be a good ‘restoration’ project for me some day.
As for displaying it, I found that you can put only one side of the cowling on fairly easily. This way, it’s dressed if you show one side, and undressed if you show the other!!
Murray
Murray, that’s not a bad idea… so simple… it’s always the obvious solutions that escape me…!!!
