Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger (P)
Pat Stanswell of MMIR must be thinking why he spent so much time doing that fabulous sample in the Modelers guide to the Tiger book and now comes Dragon with this one. But true is Pat’s model is a delight, let’s hope this one can be just as good!
That looks like wheels off an Elefant, what is that? I’ve never seen a Tiger like this before.
Check Captain Caveman’s thread. Basically, that’s Porsche’s proposed hull for the Tiger. It wasn’t chosen, but a bunch of them had been made, so most of them were converted into the big, faintly ridiculous Ferdinand/Elefant Tank Hunter. But a few got the Tiger turret, and apparently one of them actually served at the front. (I think a few more with Tiger turrets were used for training.)
This kit represents that one vehicle. It served with one of the Elefant units, as a command tank.
I pretty sure the first tiger was on the chassis of a Ferdinand (Elefant) not sure though.
