New Tamiya 1/48 models announced

A bunch of new models have appeared on their website, including Afrika Corps Tiger I, British Sherman Firefly and King Tiger.

I know there’s not much interest in the 1/48 line here, but in case anyone else is interested, the new stuff can be seen at http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/category.php?sub-id=10500.

Looks like more nice stuff from Tamiya! Now if they would just release that Firefly and M4A1 in 35th scale like they did with the early version Stug III…[2c]

Just joined, been reading up on intrest in 1:48. I’m greatfull to you for pointing the way to new Tamiya releases Can’t believe my luck I’ve been building 1:48 military models for years now even used to work for a company that only made military models in 48 will be following the threads with great intrest

Are you aware there’s some dedicated sites for 1/48 armour? Go to http://www.track48.com/ for the premier site. There you’ll find a forum, gallery and links to two Yahoo groups. Just a guess, but could the company have Hartsmith?

Many thanks will have a look, your quite correct, but hartsmith sank with loss of all hands two years ago but have resurfaced as ASAM models wilth a slimmed product range!

Thanks for the link, very interesting kits coming up. I especially like the German truck, and a volkwagen too! Great diroama possiblitilies.

Some pictures up at http://www.perthmilitarymodelling.com/newkitnews/tamiya.htm.

A bit disappointed that there’s no Zimmerit on the King Tiger… Time to get out the putty and try to do my own, I guess.

The beetle is a real ‘must-have’ for me [swg]

i glad theres no zimmerit on the Kingtiger, im sure Tamiya will bring out a zim tool

Plenty of “production turret” Tiger IIs didn’t have zimmerit, so it’s a very good decision on Tamiya’s part not to mold it on.

I just saw all these kits on display at the Shizuoka Hobby Show, and they are indeed very nice!

oh man, they have two figures in that new german figure set that are from their 1/16 lines!!! and even the single figure design that only came with the sturmtiger.

1/48 is starting to get exciting

I know of a thousand reasons to like 1/35th too, but what I like about this hobby is I can have my cake and eat it too

Its about time they came out with some rather intersting items for us 48th scale builders. Actually I’d like to see more in the line of support vehicles for a/c and accessories as well.

Mmmmm do I see a Jeep soon…??

Flaps up, Mike

Some very interesting releases. I can think of lots of ways to use the VW Bug.
