New Roden DC-3`

I, along with many of you, have been crying for a new, really good, DC-3 kit. I see Roden has released a new one. No interior! At least I hope they have the doors correct, and hope it has decent engine faces. I was quite disappointed with the engines on their recent DC-7 :frowning:

I’ll pick up one soon, but wonder if anyone here has seen the new kit?

Hi Don. I reviewed the military C-47 version of this kit for FSM (see here: http://www.finescale.com/Products%20and%20Reviews/Kit%20Reviews/2013/08/Roden%20Douglas%20C-47.aspx) and it was a very nice kit. Just a couple of things to watch out for. I think you’d enjoy it - I picked up another C-47, and I too plan on getting an airliner at some point. Take care.

No interior?? What scale is it? If it’s anything like that staggering I’d be interested - only in 1/48 though.

Thanks, Chuck. I’ve bookmarked your review for when I do pick up the kit.

I’m glad of the scale. Even a 1:72 DC-3 is pretty big. I don’t know where I’d put a 1:48 version after I finished. Maybe use firecrackers like I did when I was a kid

Hmm good point…

DON! how could you? there is a limit to space savings, you know. You should do what many wish to do, simply build a 20x20 foot addition to the house and call it even See? simples Or Not

20X20??? Where does the rest of the collection go?

Most of the models I built as a kid were flying models anyways, so they didn’t last long. If it didn’t fly well, it was a candidate for a firecracker. Hey, that was a very common activity. Not many of us were collectors then. I have no models from my school years.

So true, so true. firecrackers were the stuff of many of my aircraft destructions, as well as bombing the plastic army men in battle fields on dirt piles.

Ah the good old days, before we knew we would or could hurt ourselves .

Thanks for the heads-up, Don! “Rodan DC-3”. Got it. Will look at this kit.

Shhhhh! If the authorities ever connect firecrackers, kids and modeling they may ban the entire hobby!

Imagine encouraging kids to play with explosives while teaching them about guns, rockets, bombs and military tech. I see the government forbidding import and manufacture of any plastic model that even hints at such things.

We must protect the children! (And I’m only half-joking.)
