Made a start yesterday on a new project - recreating my old 2CV race car in 1/24 scale.
whilst straight forward on the face of it, there are a few modifications to make to the kit along the way, as well as my first time of scratch building a roll cage.
So really looking forward to this.
This should be fun. I really like builds where folks recreate a vehicle they actually owned.
Off to a good start on this one Stephen.
It doesn’t feel like much progress, but got the floor married up with the chassis & some paintwork done this evening.
Nice progress on the racing 2CV, though I’m having to be very careful with the build order as I want to add a 4 point seat belt once the roll cage & seat is fitted.
Coming along pretty dang good on this one bud. That red laid down NICELY on that fire extinguisher.
That looks great, you could rat rod that thing, that would be a lot of fun.
This project is moving right along and it’s looking awesome! I love the colors that you selected. I’ve been a big fan of the Citroen for a long time. Any advice/comments about the quality of Airfix? I’ve built aircraft and ships kits by them but never an automobile.
Great build… looking forward to the end result of your work.
Hi, It’s a very old Airfix kit, I found it on ebay.
There’s quite a bit of flash to cleaan up.
I was planning to use a Heller kit for this project, but with all the mods I’ve had to make & parts I’m not needing to use, the old Airfix kit was much cheaper.
It’s certainly been a challenging build.
Cheers D,
An interesting point.
As it happens, I have a Revell 53 Corvette Roadster kit in my stash that I’m not sure why I have it (I’m not really into American cars) But, having seen Mad Max Furiosa, I’m tempted to try something different with it, in the style of the cars from Mad Max.
Just an idea at the moment.
What is the top speed for this type of modified race car? Is this type of car / racing like that of rally racing? Very cool

To be honest, I don’t really know, it’s been a very long time since I was involved.
A Citroen race car? To quote a popular western show,“Cats are barking, dogs are purring, nothing makes sense anymore”
Update on the 2CV race car recreation -
After what has felt like glacial progress over the past week, I have made a good step forward with the creation of the seatbelt’s
That progress is looking so good. The seat and restraints look very good. You’re getting near the end of this project and can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!
Nice work on getting the roll cage to fit inside the body.
