New pics of my Jug and P-51

I’m trying to post pictures for the first time. Hope it works. If it does, thanks, J-Hulk. These some pictures I took the other day at the NAF Atsugi runway.

Here goes!

Good models [tup].
Just one question, what is that thingy sticking out from the Jug’s port wing (midle photo)?

Nice models. Is that 1/48? What manufacturer(s)? Thanks for sharing!

Thanks. Chris, that’s a 3-tube rocket launcher. There’s one on both wings. Actually, the instructions didn’t say anything about putting bombs and rockets on the same plane, but I think this guy was on a special mission towards the end of the war. I guess I’m not much of a stickler for historical accuracy. And, Dominque, they are both 1/48 Tamiya models.

Very nice!

One comment- The cuffs on the P-51’s propeller are laminated balsa wood, so no natural metal underneath that part of the prop.

Very nice builds, dagne!

The Jugs typically had a “Groundpounder” type loadout-- it included the 3 barreled rocket launch tubes on each wing- and three 500 lb bombs-- one on each wing and one on a fuselage rack-- so it’s not out of the ordinary. Nice build…I like the background too-- very realistic!

nmayhue- The propeller cuffs, near the center of the hub are laminated balsa wood. They would’nt show silver, (natural metal finish), under the chipped paint. A friend of mine owns a P-51 in Broomfield Co. and thats what his mechanic told me.

Wow, nice builds, and the background of the pics really makes them look very realistic.
I haven’t built any Tamiya airplane kits. What can you say about the two?

What is the paint scheme on the Jug? I love it, I assume it is navy or marine? Also, did the markings for that come in the Tamiya box?

Great looking aircraft… the airstrip gives them a very realistic look. I’ve got the Tamiya
P-51 in 72nd scale in those markings (Kit Carson) I hope mine turns out half that well when I finally get to it. The “Jug” looks really great as well. I like the gritty weathered look that you gave them.

The monitor I am using today is not the newest, so when I first saw these photos I thought I was looking at the real thing. Fantastic work! Very realistic, and great photography.

Excellent builds. Those Tamiya kits are my favorites and you certainly did them justice. Thanks for sharing, Keep em coming.

Great birds, thanks for the pics.

very well done. very cool pics.

Who is to say the cuffs weren’t primed in silver first! Great job on both kits!
