New Member from IL - need Hob. Work Bench help

Hi - Just joined up on the fine scale Modeler Web site. I like to model AFV, planes, and the occassional ship from WWII.

I am getting back into modeling and hanging up the n-scale railroad for a bit -

Question - I am looking for some suggestions on purchasing a good quality hobby bench. We just finished the basement and I was able to work out a 225 sq. ft. area for my hobby. Any ideas - I am not much on building from plans but I can build a kit. Any suggestions.

Welcome to the forum! It’s great to have you aboard.

With 225 sq ft, you could put whatever bench you wanted. In my opinion, you could pop for a huge, elaborate, fancy desk, but why? To get paint and glue on? My advice would be to get a cheap, sturdy desk that fits your tastes, and use the extra cash on more models. You’ll need something besides locos to fill the room…

Welcome to FSM wragarand. Good to have you join us here. I’m probably the worse to person to ask here about a work bench. I use an office desk for my modelling sharing space with my computer, reference materials, tools, and one of the world’s largest ashtrays.
If you post this request in the General Modelling Forum, you may get more answers.

Hi All…I’m new to the forum. I model armour mostly, but the last plane I did was the Tamiya F-117. Nice kit I built for my nephew.

Was looking at some reviews by Terry Ashley and fell here!

Presently I’m working on the Tamiya 25 pounder with limber

Look forward to learning something new…[:)] Later!

Welcome to FSM windtalker. That old Tamiya kit is a great one, I enjoyed building it years ago. I look forward to your posts in the Armour Forum.

Welcome to FSM. i use a old confernece table i bought at a yard sale for ten dollars. it is 30in by 72in lots of room.

Welcome guys. I use an old cafeteria-style folding table I got for a buck at a yard sale. It had a broken mount that I fixed with a couple of wood screws. Hope you both enjoy prowling around the site. - Ed
