New from Airfix for 2015

So there are a few “new” kits in the list I’ve looked at but the main two to mention are

The Avro Shackletonhttp://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8411/category/

Not sure why they did the late version (post 1949) but we can hope for an early version.

Then the Armstrong Whitworth Whitley http://www.airfix.com/catalog/product/view/id/8408/category/1215/

OK I had to look this up and I have to ask one question - Why?? Yes it had a long life and over 1800 where built but its not one I’d have thought off the top of my head, let alone ask anyone to make a kit. I have to say if this is the way Airfix are going I still have hope for an Avro Manchester from a main manufacturer.

Then there is a BIG one, its back in 1/24 but as a new variant the Mosquito FB VI, so if you missed out last time, but you’ll have to wait till October

I see they are also releasing a Ju 87B-1. Nice to see a new one of those.

So much for holding firm on not adding to the stash.

Tell me about it. I have already added the new AFV 251/9 to the must have list, I might be wanting to add that Stuka as well.

[H] A 1/24 Mosquito as well! What a monster that will be.

I like the re issues of some of their 1/32 stuff, the Crusader III and 17 pdr. And the RAF ground crew is good accessory stuff for aircraft vignettes or dioramas in that scale. As for why the Whitley? Well to me, its’ association with the Paras from Bruneval at least thru Overlord is a good enough reason for me  IF I was still building Braille scale stuff…,

Must…get…one. [:)]

Allen Shackleton

You have a bit of a wait. The Shackleton is not due out until next Dec.

I have heard a rumor that Italeri are doing a Shackleton in 1/72 but I’ve not got anything to back that up.

I think they may be doing a bomber version of the Stirling too after the glider towing one they have out now

Phil

Ye, they have a Mk I in the pipeline.

I wouldn’t mind a Mk III myself, not sure if either rof their kits can be converted to that Mk.

The Shackleton is one of my favorite aircraft of all-time. So happy to hear of a new tool version in the pipeline after about 50 years of the Frog mould being passed around. Of course, I have a Revell, 3 Novos and a Gerald Elliott MR.3 Shackletons (to go along with two Aeroclub MR.2 conversion kits that cost me a pretty penny), but I’ll definitely be ponying up for at least one (if not more) of that new Airfix kit this time next year.
