NEW CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG BUILD

Hello out there.

Being new to the forums here, I’d like to jump in with my recent build of the 1968 Aurora kit that I had bought years ago from an on-line model broker that was clearing out his stock. Until now it sat in a pristine box with all of the parts looking like they were made yesterday! Some scratch-building was done, a couple of alignment issues were addressed, and a lot of pin-striping by was done by hand.

The wings I modified are designed to be removable, as are the propellers. I’ll post more pictures as the build is completed. A great kit from Aurora that is rare- detailed parts & a model that is difficult to buy intact. One of my cherished car models to date. Enjoy.

Hi Tentacles and welcome! That is one cool kit I’ve certainly never seen with my own eyes…excellent build so far, looking forward to more!

Welcome aboard. You work so far looks stunning!

I had a Corgi miniature of 'ol Chitty as a kid, never realized the Aurora kit existed. Do keep posting progress pics, please.

I am curious how it turns out. I had to kit bash a lindberg 1914 model t for mine.

Here’s a couple more of progress shots. I just saw your most creative interpretation of this car! Were the wings made out of fabric? Thanks for your interest![

I’ve since painted the chrome propeller blades brown w/ wood grain patterns to reflect the actual materials used then for the blades. The car now “flies” suspended above by fishing line in a glass case along with my other hot rod models. A fun build to be sure![
