New B-29 to Tu-4 conversion set!

I just got an email from Meteor Productions about a new conversion from the B-29 to the Tu-4 Bull. Wow!! This thing looks awesome! Comes in 1/48 and 1/72 (link is to 1/48 version). I may just have to get another B-29 for this one!

Here’s what the site says about it:
Tu-4 Bull (B-29) Chinese AWACS/AEW Conversion for Monogram/Revell/ProModeler B-29 kit. This MASSIVE set contains the parts necessary to convert the B-29 to the Soviet-built Tu-4 Bull, as modified by the PLAAF to use the large AI-20K turboprop engines and a huge AWACS radome mounted above the mid-fuselage. This is a HUGE set, and it includes the decals! This model is sure to be the center of your collection–an “eye magnet” for everybody who ever sees it!

And here’s some pics of the real thing:

Nice!

That looks like an awesome set! I might have to build a B-29 soon.

[:O] Now that would be an awesome conversion. Just might have to get one if the price is right.

It does look very interesting, but the price is $69.99. Add that to the price of the 1/48 kit and you got yourself one expensive package.

Nah, you can pick up that kit on eBay for about $20 or so.

I promised myself I wouldn’t gripe about this as it really doesn’t matter, but…

Of all the things I’ve been waiting for to come out, a $70 conversion kit to make an obscure Chinese AEW plane isn’t any of them.

Sorry. I know, it doesn’t hurt me that it is out there and I should just shut up. So I will.

Unless you snag one they got at Hobby Lobby at 40% off using an on-line coupon like I am fond of doing [;)]

My main concern is that it looks like a lot of resin, and althogh I will work with it, I hate resin! [yuck]

It’d be unlikely that I’d buy that conversion set (especially at that price), but man…what an amazing looking model that would be - and something completely different as well.
Thanks for the link.

i have the b-29 in my stash but i kinda want to try the tinfoil,“humpin’ honey” that was linked on here a week or two ago.

so far i have an old p-47 that i’m practicing the technique on and it’s really not that hard, just time consuming, the results are well worth it

Geeze- yet one more thing I really, really, really, want to get, but can’t afford. (No fault of yours, of course.) [;)] Well, as a High School senior (for about two more weeks) and college in the fall, I’m just glad I can continue my modelling career at all. I’m staying at home, so dorm space isn’t really an issue.

Wow! That would be cool, but obviously expensive. I know my B-29 and my money will go for a Korean era bomber, that way I only have to metallize HALF the airplane.
