This is my first post so please bear with me. I am new to this hobby. I recently purchased a paasche airbrush w/ a fusion compressor. I mix my paint w/ thinner to the proper consistancy, I think somewhere I read it should be like skim milk. Well, I get it to that point but I cannot get any paint to draw into my brush to paint. The only place I have to work is in my garage and here in Denver the temps outside are below freezing. My paint is stored in my garage. I know its a stupid question but could the cold weather affect this?
I have a Paasche Airbrush and I’ve noticed that I have to spray at higher pressures than most people, otherwise I get no or very inconsistent paint flow. Depending on the consistency of my mix I spray using 25 to 35 psi.
As gjek said: Cold temperatures have a profound effect on coating performance. Acrylics are particularly vulnerable to low temperatures, although enamels are by no means resistant. If your garage is unheated, as I assume from your post, keep the paint and model inside until the last minute, paint quickly, and return the model to inside temperatures.
A radiant space heater (the completely enclosed, electric powered oil reservoir types that are not potential ignition sources) would be a good investment for the garage.
