Here is my new scooter. I must say with this one Aiffix seem to have listened to modlers and not put trenches for pannel detail.
I plan to do a “deck cene” so the flaps need to be extended. For this I dut them from the wing, carved and sanded to as thin as I could get ,then re-glued baco onto the wing.I will make the flaps from thin plastic sheet, not going overboard with the detail, just want to give it a bit more “feel”
Would there be a visable pannel where I have filled? maybe underlying re-enforcment for the flap hindge or would the upper skin there be smooth?
Same for the pannels near the bottom of the leading edges, were they actually there or smooth?
I will have to do some filling in that area and need to know if I have to then re-scribe it back.
I got a little more building done on the plane and still need to decide if I wil go with the two wing tanks and the MER I scratch built or a 3 tank setup as used on long ferry flights.
Be sure to add some lead to the nose. I used shot and wood glue.
Nice looking build so far Theuns. Are you going to use the kit decals for the markings?
I gotta agree with you on the new Airfix kits, they are really well engineered. I’m going to start on the Sea Harrier FA 2 in my stash after I’ve finished the P-40 I’m currently working on.
Hi, yes I will use the kit’s decals for the sceeme as in the pic. I just hope they react well enough to micro sol to form over the IFR probe on the side forward fuse and over the vortex generators ontop of the wing …
Nice scooter!! Not sure about learning from your ‘mistakes’ but this one is very well done. Still got some panel shading in yet overall its still looks like a very clean machine. Wish I could take pics like these!
Thanx Eric. I just took a piece of black paper from the local stasionary shop as a background and took the pix outside in the daylight as my camera’s flash has gone bust!
The shading is actually post shading with pastel powder over the matt coat. My airbrush tecnique is not good enough to do successfull pre shading in 1/72 scale, besides the paint on this plane is way to thick to have shown through
