New Air Brush

GNAAAA!

I just broke the tip of my old double action siphon feed airbrush, a no name thingy that has served me well for many years.

I need a new airbrush!

I want a brush that:
Can go from fine detail to inch size (2 mm to 25mm)
Does not spit
Is easy to clean

Please give me advice, I have no time to find individual dealers and acctually touch the real thing.

Thx!

Ya might try posting this in the airbrush section for more responses. I’d reccomend one of the Badger 100 series brushes…Double action, internal mix of course, and I’d particularly advise you to get the 100LG if you want easy cleaning, as it’s got color cups. If you want another double action bottom feed, get a 150, which is the siphon feed version of the 100 series.

EDIT: If you broke the tip, does the manufacturer not make a replacement one?

Everyone is going to have an opinion here. I’m eyeing the Badger Anthem. It’s supposed to be the quickest to clean. It’s reasonably priced and it’s a Badger.

The Badger Cresendo, I believe, can come with up to three interchangable tips.

Badger 100 G or LG. bearair.com has the best prices and service I’ve seen, although in the UK you may want something closer.

[2c][tup] Aztec DA 4702 covers it all.

[:D] Gave my others away.

down to 2mm!!! Man, the finest I can spray without being so clse that it drips is around 3/4cm.

Lol…with that little styrene triggered Aztek…

Atleast it’s unique!

IMHO you can’t beat an Iwata. An Eclipse probably for your application. I’ve been using a HP-B Hiline with great results.

I have the Badger 100LG with both the fine & medium needle assemblies & use it for most of my work. I also have an Iwata HP-CR which is also a great AB, but the Badger fits my hand a little better.

Very true [swg]

As most have said, in general I’d get either an Iwata or Badger.

[#ditto]-- I W A T A !!-- you gotta try it---- easyiest to clean I have ever used, hearty, forgiving accurate and very durable – the gravity feed also allows for very low air pressure if required-- ---------tread[8D]

I have the Badger Crescendo. The three tips are useful, but I’ve never used the biggest one. It’s very easy to maintain. The only thing is that it’s syphon feed, not gravity. If I need to do really fine line, then I use my Tamiya HG Superfine.

That’s the same model I use for all my work…others malign the Aztek for different reasons, but I love mine. Different strokes I guess, but then I went out and got all of the available tips for it and swap them out depending on what I’m doing and can get the fine lines down to 1mm using the double action, pressure adjustments, and siphon feed to avoid spillage for up close work.

I use the venerable old Badger 150. Ain’t NUTHIN ya can’t do with it. It;s the ultimate airbrush if you put some time into learning it’s capabilities.

I took my Hobby Lobby cupon, and bought an Iwata Eclipse. Have not tried it out yet, but looks like a good brush. But I really kinda wish I’d gotten the one with the air regulator built into it.

gary

Sounds like what you are looking for is the bugger I bought. Model Maker is the brand, and parts are available. I’ve even seen them on the Bear Air website if I remember correctly. I paid 79 bucks for it. Comes with 3 needles, a .2 a .5 and a .7mm needle. Double action, available in gravity or siphone feed. Mine works perfectly andf the only trouble I’ve had with it, is my neglect of cleaning. So I have to do a deep clean like every 5 sessions. It’s my fault, my idea of general cleaning is just spray some thinner through it until it has no more color in it. Since I spray acrylics, you can imagine how this can become an issue.

EDIT

Here we go.

It’s the DA450 airbrush down there. Siphon feed that I have. One above it is identical but it’s a gravity feed.

I would normally chime in with my typical recommendation of a Badger 100/150/200 airbrush, but I’ve seen the prices in the UK and they’re just too expensive!

Try this place, most likely Taiwanese or Chinese knockoffs of an Iwata, but the prices are pretty good (if I’m figuring the exchange properly!):
