New 1:72 XB-7 "Death Dealer"

Hi there,
I just wanted to share my new work. I hope you like it.

Nice looking build, and very unusual. What the background to this. Is it some sort of concept aircraft.

Thanks,
Actually this aircraft has no background since it is one of my creations as an experimental aircraft. The images above are computer generated 3D renders. I designed the plane, and modelled in 3D. My point is to reach as many people as possible and see if they like this aircraft, if they want to build it if it was a real plastic scale model.

Great rendering!

Well, it had me fooled. Deffinatly an unusual design, if it was Luft 46 i would be up for it. But then as its totally fictional, who’s to say it can’t be German, or anything you like.

That is pretty cool…rendering or not

Very nice, what did you use to make it? It looks like something from Crimson Skies.

Thanks. I’m modelling my designs using Rhinoceros 3D. It is very easy to use yet capable software. Crimson skies was one of my all time favorite games. It was offering strange airplanes and arcade style flying which anybody can play. I wish they make a new version of that game.

Well yeah, that was my point. To make people believe that it is real.
Considering the unpainted alluminum surfaces, canopy shape, interior colors and sleekness of the design, I’d say it would be a RAF’46 design. =)

OOOhhhh rhino, ive never really got into rhino, i did make a rubber duck in it once though. My main fancies are 3DSM, Inventor and solidworks. Although my goal since i was about 18 has been to use every CAD software available and at least have a basic understanding of it. Ive got a few left to go.

Ah, yeah the Inventor! I really want to learn how to use it but i think it’ll take more time than I have. But that software is just for me since I’m a gearhead! =)

Ye, you got a point there. Does have a British look about it.

I have no idea what you and Scorpio are talking about, but a great job on this none the less. Now, to see it in plastic.

Love the design and excellent job of bringing it life! Plus great job on the NM and love the paint scheme too.

Only thing that seems odd to me is mixing two prop engines and a jet. I know there were planes that did it, just seems odd not to go with one or the other.

That’s a pretty cool experimental, do I see a Meteor as the base airframe?

CAD software, Computer Aided (Assisted) Design (Drawing)

Rhino is what’s referred to as a Nurbs Modeller.

Non-uniform rational basis spline (NURBS) is a mathematical model commonly used in computer graphics for generating and representing curves and surfaces which offers great flexibility and precision for handling both analytic (shapes defined by common mathematical formulas) and freeform shapes.

There are other types, but we wont go into that.

Hey vortex, what did you use to render it? And can we see the unrendered model?

Thanks. It maybe looks like the meteor at front but it is not. =)

I’m using Vray for Rhino for rendering. It runs inside the rhino so I don’t have to export anything.
Here are some clay render shots.

Very impressive build ,your paint work looks excellent. I was scratching my head at first glance trying to remember this X plane, had me fooled as well. Nicely done Sir!

Thank you very much! =)

Man thats some epic stuff.

Im so gonna have to work on my skills this summer.
