New 1/35 military kit from Tamiya

I just saw on “The Modeling News” that a new 1/35 German Pak 38 antitank gun kit is being debuted at the IPMS Nationals this week. To “piggy back” on the construction/farm vehicle post, ICM is releasing a 1/35 Fordson agricultural tractor(1934-36) soon. Looks like it would be a great subject for weathering.

The gun as well as the figures will be a leap in improvement over their old PAK-40 kit. I might get one just for the figures .

I did acquire the DML, now Dragon model back in the day, which came with German paratroopers in winter garb. It was a great model although I preferred to provide it with a metal gun barrel, since I simply hate the former two half assembly that in those days was still popular (too much fuzz). Other than that, it was still a great model. Although suggested to be set in a winter scenario I decided to reserve it for a Normandy diorama and use the paratroopers for a Battle of the Bulge scenario instead. I will be looking at the Tamiya offering as soon as it will be available. I also own an Italeri variant, which apparently is an earlier version of that anti-tank gun, and this one also came with figures manning it. Those though were WSS camouflaged ones.

They also have a M24 Chaffee coming out as mentioned at Nuremberg

Tamiya has outdone itself in recent years, when thinking about the newer models they have produced such as the British Archer, Comet and Achilles and the U.S. Sherman Easy Eight and more recent M40 heavy howitzer, and what’s more, they all came with their crew, so no need to seek aftermarket figures. Therefore anything that will follow, such as the mentioned M24 Chaffee light tank are welcome in my household, since the Italeri one was just a very basic model and needed too many aftermarket products to be finished appropriately.

Oh cool, I didn’t hear about that. I might get one when it becomes available.
