I see from the cybermodeler site that trumpeter have listed 2 1/16 armour kits for this year.
The first one I see is another King Tiger II 2 in 1 kit. Kit number 810. Now I do know that both initial and serial turret has been issued but their kit numbers are 906 & 907. Now is this a typo for the kit number - should it be 910 and is it the Hunting Tiger to complete the set? We’ll have to wait and see!
The other one on the list is a SU-100 with a kit nuber of 812. I’m sure Treadwell will be looking closley at these.
The photos of the relevant page of the 2010 catalogue show what appears to be a KT (period photo, no box art). not a JT, and sufficiently magnified, the number is 910, though it may appear to be 810.
It makes me wonder if that the sales success of both Limited Editions of the KTII have made Trumpeter put it into their sales catalogue as permanent.
It does say 2 in 1 so that could mean an amalgum of both LE kits. As those who have both are aware that the difference is in the turret if could mean that you have a choice of turrets and possibly the clear hull parts. I could be encouraged to have a rummage around that one out of curiosity when it is realeased.
I also wonder about the SU-100. I think that it will make a good and interesting build, but after the releases of the KTII series I would have thought the a more logical direction would have been a Tiger I or Panther G.
Never mind! Kudos to Trumpeter for keeping the large scale armour fans happy with kits that take up the hours to build, paint and weather. Certainly makes the winter evenings fly by!
I have been amazed with the KTII I have. Following the instruction booklet it seemed that initially nothing happened apart from alot of paint and a few bits and then all of a sudded the interior of the tank started to take on detail and get more cramped! I would hate to have to work on that engine in field conditions without a recovery or workshop unit to hand. There’s just no room at all!
These Trumpeter kits certainly put you on a learning curve and for me you get your money’s worth!
