sorry, blackcat

It’s almost like your asking a trick question.
The difference in the last number of it’s name.

Anyway, answering your question more eriously:
B24 is huge four engined bomber
B25 is two engined attack bomber loaded with guns
B-26 is B-25 a like, with two engines, though lacks the loads of armament.

Let’s do this with pictures shall we.
Here’s a B-24

…and here’s a B-25

…and here’s a B-26

as for an opinion… not sure what you are asking for an opinion on. The difference between the three. They’re different WWII bombers built by different manufacturers.

The photos say it all, however, the Douglas A26 Invader was for a time classified as a B26. This aircraft was a light bomber, however I would re-classify it as a one of the first Close Air Support birds, al la A10.

The Consolidated B24 Liberator was the “workhorse” of the 8th AF starategic campaign in Europe. It also served with distinction in the Pacific. There were maritime versions for Anti-Submarine work as well and some even converted to transport work.

The North American B25 Mitchell was classed as a medium bomber. It served in Europe, notably in the Medditerrean as well as the Pacific. It was also used by our allies, Great Britian as well as the Soviets. This type is notable for the modification to a powerful armaments platform. Some mounting the 75mm recoiless gun in the nose. These served in the Pacific, almost exclusively, I think.

The Martin B26 Marauder was also classed as a medium type, again serving in both Europe and the Pacific. It has the reputation of being an unforgiving aircraft and ws especially tough on the newer pilots. After the war this aircraft did serve with some foreign services, France and South Africa as examples.

As you can see you have a wide variety of type and even marking options.

In regards to kits the three types shown in the pictures are pretty well represented on the whole. The B26 MARUDER being the one type that is lacking in broader representation by manufacturers. The only kit for this type that I am familiar with is the old Monogram. Tough build from what I understand, refer to January 05 FSM.

Rest assured some of the WWE (Wonderful Walking Encyclopedia’s) that are members here will jump in on this…They are truly great…

My opinion is build them all [}:)]!

The B-24 Liberator, as a four engined machine was considered to be a “heavy” bomber. It was designed and built by the Consolidated Aircraft Company at Fort Worth, Texas, (also contract built by Ford Motor Co in Dearborn, MI). Consolidated later built the B-36 and as Convair, the B-58, F-102 and F-106. It is frequently compared to the Boeing B-17, also a 4 engined “heavy”, and you can get into some heated arguments as to which one is better. They each had their good & bad points.
The B-25 Mitchell was considered a “medium” bomber and was designed and built by the North American Aviation Company in Inglewood, California. The same company that built the P-51 Mustang, F-86 Sabre, F-100 Super Sabre, X-15 rocket plane and the XB-70 Valkyrie, Mach 3 bomber. It was the most widely used medium bomber of WW-II, seeing service in every theater and campaign of that war. It was used by the British, Russians and I think one or two other countries. It’s most famous use was for the April 1942 Doolittle raid on Tokyo from the aircraft carrier Hornet. This strike was immortalized in Ted Lawson’s book, 30 Seconds Over Tokyo and a movie based on the book.
The B-26 Marauder, (not to be confused with the Douglas B-26, also a twin engined medium bomber), was built by the Martin Aircraft Company at Omaha, Nebraska. They also built several different flying boats for the Navy and twin engine commercial airplanes after the war. The Marauder had a reputation for being a pilot killer and was until they learned to overcome its idiosyncracies and fly it within certain limits. It flew a lot of missions out of England over to occupied France and then Germany.

You want an opinion and ask what is a very obvious question (differences) between aircraft that are all well known and that have literally thousands of pictorial, written and photographic references across media available world wide???

I don’t understand. Sorry.

Perhaps you would like to rephrase your question. I reccon that al the answers above probably weren’t what you hoped for.

I’m trying to guess the problem here:
A) douglas B-26/martin B-26 confusion?
B) you want to know wich kit are out there of the B-24/B-25/B-26
C) ???

One small tip: get your Caps lock fixed [;)]

WHY ARE YOU SHOUTING ?? Turn off the [censored] Caps lock. This is very rude Forum behavior & the questions you’ve been posting are idiotic.

Why don’t you just tell him to go away and not come back! It’s responses like yours, to “newbies”, that ruin this hobby.
Just my 2¢.
Larry

Newbies should read the Forum guidelines & rules of ettiquete when they join.

I agree with Rick on this being a member of many different types of forums on the web there are rules to posting correctly. And he is not following those rules [V].

As for his question I’m a bit confused as to what he wants also since his profile states he has already built a B25 and a B26, so I think the differences would be obvious for those two at least.

Cheers
Thom

I don’t know what you looking for exactly, bomb load, armaments, etc but there are plenty of websites with info on the planes you have listed. Do a search and you’ll find plenty about each.

Here’s a good one a member listed recently.

Agree with Rick, please don’t SHOUT.

I see the rule about “shouting”, but I guess this rule doesn’t count?

Be forgiving of other people’s mistakes - Nobody’s perfect.

I guess I had better leave, before I make an “idiotic” mistake.
Larry

why not answer the question. If there is nothing productive to say in a thread I would say don’t reply to the topic. Who really cares if the caps lock is on or not, stop freaking nitpicking. I don’t think it hurt anybody by being all caps. Geez man get a life.

And by the way the first and second answers to the question I believe answered it.

I totally agree with reccephreak

RULES! YOU MEAN I WAS SUPPOSED TO READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING!

ooops! I guess I goofed! Again! Well, back to the “real” world!

Hey guys ever heard of this hobby called “modelling”? I hear it is pretty cool. I also understand lots of really interesting and enjoyable people from all wlaks of life are involved in it. Just curious to see if anyone else has heard of it?

Hmmm… anyone want to put money on getting a response? [:D]

It’s ok blackcat… we bicker amongst ourselves all the time here. Kinda like a family in those respects.[:D]

Darnit! Settle down Beavis! ← had to get mine in.[:D]

LOL oops, sorry, I meen : lol

All caps makes it easier for some of the older members to read. Where did the idea start that it means shouting. When I read the monitor screen it all sounds the same to me.
When all the Martin B26`s were gone from the airforce inventory the B desighation was given to the Douglas A26 indicating it was a bomber and no longer considered an Attack aircraft.
