I’m an armor modeler who is looking to get back into aircraft as a change of pace. Mostly i need some help with paint selection. I really like ww2 japanese, italian, and american aircraft of the pacific theater. What paints should i use for the interior colors. If there is an online guide you could point me to that would be just as good. Thanks BIll
I prefer using Testor Model Master Acrylics. Easy clean up with water or alcohol, easier to use and airbrush.

OK, Bill.
In aircraft moedels, they normally tell you what color to paint interiors.
Not only that, in the Testors line, you can get specific interior colors, just like you can for some tanks.
For instance:
- For PAC theater American aircraft you just get Zinc Chromate for USN/USMC, Interior Green for USAAF (some asy they are basically the same color, so if I run out of one have had plenty of the other, I don’t worry it).
- For PAC British aircraft, you get RAF Interior Green, which is known as a duck-egg green.
Frankly, I can’t tell much difference between IJN Green and Russian Armor Green, for instance.
The Japanese had various color changes during the war due to various paint shortages, ranging from dark green to bare metal, depending on the aircraft involved, so I would first go by the instructions, and double-check any websites regardig the specific subject involved.
