Need image of crew boarding hatch on Do-217

I’m still plugging away at my Pro-Mod Do-217 and I am thinking about opening the crew hatch on the rear ventral portion of the gondola. I’m not sure where exactly it should be.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Ray.

This is a 217-M11 but the gondola area is the same.

Just about what I figured. Nice job on the ladder, scratch-built?

Thanks Swanny!

Ray

Yeah, from fuse wire with superglue. Basically copied what I saw in the Luftwaffe field service manual for the aircraft.

I completed the said Kit a few weeks ago and am currently working on a display base for it. (Follow http://www.krofire.org/MarksModels.htm and click on the “Revell Do-217” for the pictures of the Build of the 1/48th scale Revell Kit.) I bought the Eduard and Verlinden Detail Sets. Both offer the boarding ladder but my references show that the Verlinden set is junk. Do NOT buy this rubbish!

If you have the cash get the Eduard set as this includes the Boarding Ladder Detail. I have a few Do-217 references but not one showed this Ladder from the rear. This was quite annoying. Anyway, if you follow the Eduard Instructions just remove the boarding ladder hatch following the Panel Lines. You must then shape a piece of plastic card to fit the gap and glue the Eduard Photo-etch to the inside.

I cannot vouch for its accuracy. The finished assembled photo on my web site is a but too dark for you to see the result but you get the idea. The boarding hatch itself does appear as a separate photo on the same web page. I could E:Mail you more photo’s if I have them… But this is a secondary reference!

That’s an amazing build. Krofire! Bookmarked.
