Hey all,
I’m making a display case for my 1/35th scale models (armour only) and, since I’ve only made three models, I have some questions. The plan is for this case to hold about 20 models.
First, what would be a good depth? I don’t plan on making any dioramas and I plan on showing the models from the side.
Second, what would be a good distance between each shelf?
Third, what would be a good length if I use only 4 shelfs?
If some of you could measure some of your bigger kits, ie. panzers, tigers, M1A1, I would appreciate it.
Thanks,
Jesse
Figureing my leopard is 12" x 4" and it’s the biggest model I have.
1:Using that you would probally be safe going with 6" depth.
2: 6" - 8" between the shelfs should be enough room to accomidate antennas.
3:4 shelfs would be 5 models on each shelf that would need to be 5 ’ long.
Hope that gives you a little idea of what you need.
I personally think 12 inches should be large enough as for the height I cant imagine it being taller than10-12 inches
I built one about 20 years ago for my kits. It’s roughly 14 inches deep with eleven inches between shelves and about forty five inches wide. It’s a little bigger than your plan, but I’ve got about 70 models in it two rows deep. It worked out real well for me cause it doubled as a shipping crate (I was in the army and moved a lot).
