need help finding.......

I need help finding a decal set in 1/48 scale to model a the F-4E Phantom II FAC known as Chico the gunfighter. Can someone help me find these?

Ask, and you shall receive:

TwoBobs baby! But it’s sold out, so you’ll have to look on ebay, kit shows, other websites, etc to find it.

The only thing coming up in my search is the Twobobs 1/32 32-022 sheet. Maybe you could contact them about a 1/48 sheet, since they already have the artwork.

Ive contacted Two Bobs and the 1/48 set is sold out and there will be no reprints. I even asked if I cold pay a little extra and have them custom print just the Chico markin gs for me, no go there either

Wayne, look more closely at that pic. It is a 1/48 sheet as well [;)]

Habu, I see. Yours wasn’t there when I started searching. I saw it after my post came up. TwoBobs cataloge skips that sheet, as other posts say they are done and won’t be produced any more.

How hard would it be to make these myself? Apparently Two Bobs is the only company that has printed them.

Let me chime in here… YES! You can make the decals yourself!

First you need a graphics editing program such as Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro, second you a program you can size decals to scale and I recommend Surething Decal Maker Standard Edition which can be purchased and downloaded from decalgear.com. The Surething program will allow you to also arrange the decal images to print as a sheet set. Sizing decals to scale can also be done with Photoshop and PSP if you prefer. Last you will need decal paper to print them on but I do not recommend using Testors Decal Paper. I recommand decal paper from Papillo for its superior quality. Do some research before buying decal paper. I have made my own decal sets using these programs and have been very happy with the results.

Yeah, but don’t forget the prerequisite that you kind of have to have some experience in PShop. But the tailcodes are in white, so you’d need to get some white lettering decals.

The learning curve for Adobe PS is very steep initially, but relatively easy, as they write the best documentation of any software producer I’ve ever encountered (and I’ve encountered a lot of graphics software in my day.)

White letters and numbers are most easily bought rather than made, but not hard to make with white decal paper. Just print the outlines and cut inside. Finicky, but then this whole hobby is one big, long finick…[(-D]

w3rd for word!

Sounds like making my own decals is a little more than I am ready for. Did any other company besides Two Bobs make a set of markings for Chico? Would it be possible to cannabilize other decal sets to get the markings I need? Not sure i understand why a company would just stop printing a popular set like this. With out these my recently purchased F-4E is left in limbo.

The learning curve for Paint Shop Pro is quite easy, less hassle than Photoshop and there are hundreds of tutoral websites online that teach you how to use it and they are FREE! I use Paint Shop Pro to make decal image templates for printing. Making your own decals isnt as hard as most people think. All you need is time, patience and a willingness to learn something new.

Where can I get Paint Shop Pro? This still sounds a little daunting, even though I would love to learn how to make my own decals. It would save money and head aches such as this. Think I might start on something simpilar though. Would still like to find these decals somewhere or piece them together from several sets. Are there any companies or individuals out there that might be able to just print them for me. I know of Mike Grant Decals and Custom Hobby Decals, niether of whom are taking orders right now.

I’ve always ordered Paint Shop Pro with my Dell computers. I’ve used PSPro 6 7, and 8. The learning curve is as was reported quite easy, especially for the basic features. It’s made by JASC so I suspect if you go to their web site you can find ordering info.
