Can anyone tell me where to find these scales for cars?
The time period I’m looking for is anything from the 1930’s to the 1940’s and I want to stay as close to my 48th scale WW2 aircraft as possible.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Mike

I suggest to contact to Mr. Roberto Bona in Italy, he speaks very well several languages and knows a lot about where to find 43rd cars (also has a large collection)

Mike. You probably know this already… Revell make the Citroen Traction and Volkswagen for use as German staff cars in 1:48…As far as Allied vehicles…very difficult. I am buying various Willys Jeeps in 1:43 from the diecast Cararama series… not much else about that I can see. Civilian vehicles-no idea.
Wirraway, I had some luck finding the 43 scale on Ebay but that scale is cast metal and I’m not sure of the quality because I think its more for O scale trains. (which I believe is 48th scale)
I ordered some and we’ll see what they look like.
Finding 48th scale is hard. I don’t think there is much out there besides the Tamiya and Revell offerings.
Thanks for the info.
Mike
AMT made a 1/43 scale '36 Ford Coupe, and a '48 Ford Coupe. There are almost always some on ebay. The’re nice little kits.
Sorry I haven’t been checking in here for 6 or so months. There is a HUGE array of 1/43 models out there, diecast, hand builts and kits. If you’re looking to keep in scale with your 1/48th aircraft try www.matadormodels.co.uk (plenty of 1/48th trucks etc) and www.grandprixmodels.co.uk although the latter is race/rally focused they do have a huge selection of road cars from all era’s but generally 1/43 rather than 1/48th. You could also civilianise some of Tamiya’s and other’s 1/48th military cars/trucks
Thanks nicholma, I havent checked this thread for awhile and was surprised to see your post.
I’ll check the sites out.

Clearly, there’s a real market for vehicles in this scale… You only have to look at how people fight over the old Bandai stuff in 1/48 when it appears on e-bay (remember the 3 ton Austin truck from Bandai ?) I really wish one of the manufacturers would step up to the plate and produce an expanded range. There has got to be a hell of a lot of people looking for wheeled vehicles for 1:48 dioramas. That Matador stuff is nice, in resin and white metal, but there is no way on gods sunny green earth that I would pay 30-40 UK pounds ($80-90AU) for an airfield vehicle, not when the aircraft which is the subject of the diorama cost half that !
With you on that Wirraway! I want to have my Stormovik being rearmed/refuelled but where are the Soviet vehicle 1/48th kits? There has got to be a market for vehicles in this scale
Go to ebay and search 1/48 renwal. They made a very nice line of 1/48 cars that look great next to ww1 and ww2 aircraft.
Here are a couple of mine.
1934 Duesenberg
1939 Mercedes 540-K
1940 Ford Sedan
Some time in the early 60s or so Revell purchased the line and released them again under the Revell name tag so search that way also.
I’ll do that. Those look really nice.
Thanks
Mike, check this guy out, he’s got a few 1/48 and 1/43 cars he’s unloading. I’ve done business with him before and he is okay.
