need compressor for Paasche H...

I own a Paasche H airbrush, and I need to buy a compressor (I got tired of throwing money away on those stupid cans of propellent). I would really like to go for something under 150 dollars. thx in advance:)

Check out your local hardware store. You should be able to get a light industrial compressor with pressure regulator for under that price. Be sure to get a moisture trap too.

And where would I get a moisture trap? also, does the regulator normally come with the compressor?

You know, for a bit more money, you can get set up with a CO2 cylinder outfit. Initialy, the cylinder will cost about 150 bucks at a welding supply store, and you will have to spring another 75 or so for a regulator threaded to fit CO2 equipment. Once you have done this, though, you have absolutely dry propellant and it is silent. A 20lb bottle will last a couple of years unless you are modeling like crazy, and refills run 20 bucks or so.

Regulators usually come with the small industrial compressors, moisture traps can be purchased at the same place, usually with the rest of the accessories.

Its been my experience that farm supply outlets can have some pretty good buys on comprssors - a guy who I maintain aircraft for just picked up a 5hp, 110 V compressor mounted on a 60 gallon vertical tank on wheels for 285 bucks at TSC (Tractor Supply Company) - they can supply down to 1/2 hp on a 10 gallon tank with the cost dropping as you go down - another place you might check on-line is Harbor Freight - one of their outlet stores is in Topeka and they seem to have good buys - and even though its late in the year, you might consider checking out yard/garage sales - you seem to find compressors on a regular basis at them - if you live in a larger town or city, don’t overlook the classified ads in your local paper - I wouldn’t consider one of those small compressors that are sold as hobby compressors, they pulse and can’t be used for much else (might get easier to sell to the wife that you can use it to air up the tires on her car on occasion[}:)]) - good luck on your search and let us know how you come out.

well, I’m currently saving to buy one. I looked at Sams; didn’t have much luck there. I do plan on looking at Sears, WalMart (as suggested), and Home Depot. The classified newspaper section is a good idea too; thx. I’ll let y’all know what I find.

Well, I searched Sears, Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Lowes online, without much luck. Home Depot had the cheapest; $150, which is a little high for me. But then, they may not put every item on the website, and if they ever have a sale… Anyway thanks for the help.

Great news! I got a compressor! I don’t remember the exact brand name, but it’s got a 2 gallon tank, maximum PSI of 100 (I don’t know the horsepower rating). I purchased it at Pep Boys, on sale for $70. I’ve airbrushed 4 different items, (one coat only), and so far it works like a jewel. Thanks for all the help, guys!!
