Need Apache D cockpit shots

I’ve posted in several other forums and no joy. I’m trying to build the IMEX 1/35 AH-64D kit. I’ve got all three of the eduard sets. Eduard’s instrument panels look accurate compared to the pics I have, I cannot find any reference for the side consoles. I’ve been told that most of the stuff is gone, as well as the overhead circuit breaker panel in the pilots cockpit. Can someone help me out with pics or a link to a web site or something. I thought scratchbuilding the FAB’s was going to be the hard part but the side consoles are kicking my butt.

TIA

Modelnerd,

Welcome! Yeah, the Imex kit kinda stinks. I’ve all but given up on mine, opting to convert the Revell 1/32 kit instead since it has better detail and is easier to work with. I’ve done my share of ranting about the kit on here numerous times, so I’ll shut up on that! [;)]

The side consoles are somewhat different between the A and D models, as is the collective. I basically just scraped off the detail on the left forward console and installed the angled keypad that you can see in the upper photo (rear cockpit). The lower photo gives a good shot of the left side console in the front cockpit, and it is nearly the same in the rear.

What isn’t shown is the collective, which is more like a double cyclic than what we all have come to know collectives look like. Basically, take the head of a cyclic, stick another on top of it, and that’s what it looks like. I know, its kinda weird.

As for the right console, I’ll see what I’ve got as far as photos go. I must have something around here!

thanks guys,

Trigger74, thanks for the pics. Thats the best response so far. do you know if the overhead circuit breaker panel has been removed from the pilots cockpit. I cant see it in any pics I have.

cobrahistorian, I saw your conversion on Revells AH-64A. that looks awesome. I thought about doing that. I figured the three Eduard sets would ease converting IMEX’s D into a production model. Now I’m stuck. All my model friends know I’m building it so I can’t back out now. I really wanted to build Trumpeters Hind, but being a flag waving, red blooded american I couldn’t bring myself to build a Hind before I built an Apache. I really want to finish this Apache for the IPMS nationals in Atlanta.

Once again I appreciate anything anyone can help me out with.

That’s what we’re here for David. I don’t know about the overhead circuit breaker, that’s a great question (I can’t imagine why it would). Jon, do you know the answer to this?

David,

Thanks! Aside from the terrible landing gear on the IMEX kit, I realized the footholds on the port side avionics sponson are backwards too. In order to be a correct AH-64D, you’d have to fill both steps and make the left one lower than the right one.
The good news is, I’ve looked at AH-64Ds from four different units now, and nope, not a one has the circuit breaker panel on the left side of the A/C’s cockpit. Thanks for catching that, cuz I missed it! I guess I was so distracted looking out the front of the damn thing that I forgot to turn my head to the left!
