Need a little help...

Hi guys!

I don’t normally post in this forum – I’m more into Star Trek ship models and props – but I just came into possession of a couple aircraft model kits through a friend, and wanted to know a little more about these kits, as I am thinking of trying to sell them on eBay.

So, with that in mind, can anyone give me more info on the manufacturer of these kits – Hobby Craft – and just what sort of popularity these kits entail?

From what I can tell just by looking at these kits, they appear to be older kits, and so may very well be rarer and more in demand. Of course, what with me having next to no knowledge or experience with these sort of kits, I can’t really be certain. Any and all assistance would be much appreciated, guys… [;)]

Hey Eric,
As far as I know, neither of those subjects are rare. Hobbycraft makes a decent set of fitting kits with good exterior detail and shape but real soft interior detail. Even when therew are fit issues - a little patience goes along way. Thier decals are simplistic in someways and are average quality.
Generally people stay away from hobbycraft kits for many different reasons (possibly mostly due to cost - how can a 1/48 kit that costs $10.00 be any good?) so I wouldn’t expect any kind of bidding war if that is what you are thimnking

Thanks for the info, dude. Seeing as how I’m not really all that familiar with these type of kits, I was just curious to know what sort of response I could expect to get if these were put up for sale on eBay (ie. if they’d actually sell).

I honestly wasn’t expecting any sort of bidding war, just that if I actually auctioned these off on eBay they’d sell for some price. I would keep these myself, but as I said I’m more into Star Trek model kits and props, so these just aren’t my thing.

So then, does $10.00 sound like a reasonable starting price for these kits, then?

I have been buying and selling kits on E-bay for a while, and my advice would be to sell the kits separately and start the bidding off at $1.99 each…and just hope for the best.
Best time to sell is Sunday, early evening and list for 7 days.
I find it best to start the bidding very low…that way at least you will get one bid… and sell them, rather than start bidding at $5 and not sell.

Good point there, my friend… thanks for the tip! [;)]
