need a 1/24 resin Chrysler 318 ci.

Hi all.

I am new over here to the autos board, I usually post on the aircraft board. I am building a 1/24 AMT Plymouth GTX as the '74 Roadrunner my Dad had when I was a little kid.

Stangely, my Dad had bought the car with a 318, since he couldn’t afford the insurance on a bigger motor! I have the RoadRunner decals, but don’t have any under-hood details.

What I’d like to find is a 1/24 resin 318, but I am having no luck. Also, would like to find a source for resin carbs, photo-etch cooling fans, etc…

Anyone got some specific help?

Thanks!

for what it’s worth all “A” block motors are the same on the outside. In other words a 273, 318, 340, and a 360 are the same on the outside. So just about anything from 1963 (273 only) till something like 2003 would be similar. I know they used that motor in the early AMT Barracudas (1964 / 1965).

gary

See if you can find a Dodge Little Red Express, Walmart was selling them for a long time for about $8.00 so there are a billion of them out there. It has a 360 but I think its basically the same motor as the 318 and the whole kit will probably be cheaper than a resin motor.

You might want to check out the following web site that I ran across not to long ago (in a galaxy far, far away) - http://www.rocketfin.com/model_car_links.html

Good luck!

Well, there’s only one problem. The AMT (MPC) L’il Red Express has a major problem in the engine area.

It’s touted as a “360 Express”, but it actually has a big block in it (383-400-440, front mount distributor). MPC missed that one big time.

I did not know that, I guess I can stop looking for a big block and need to find a source for the small block.
