National Model Museum?

I was sitting here thinking, which is probably not good for an old guy who will be 63 years old on the 16th of February. With crippled finger that used to work a whole lot better than they do now, and eyes that strain to read small print, I still plod on building model, which i have loved doing since I was 8 years old.

I really love reading this forum, there are so many outstanding modeler that it boggles the mind as to where all that talent comes from? And the availibilty of information in un-ending. Not like the old days where you would have to sift through library reference to get a little information. And of course if you were lucky enough to have a television set you could watch “Victory at Sea” or “Airpower” narrated by Walter Cronkite.

Looking at about 25 vintage model kits of tanks, cars and airplane that I have collected over the years and will never be built by me plus all the other kits I will never build, should be given a good home in a museum.

Unfortunately the is no non-profit museum that I know of I had always wished they was a place somewhere that modelers could go to see the roots of modeling to the present. Man wouldn’t that be super? Oh well it was just a dream? Only God knows where these models will end up.

Hope I didn’t bore anyboby, just thought from an old modeler.

Why not donate them to your local Boys/Girls Club? I’ll be 63 this year and also have many kits that are unbuilt. I’m working on them and they keep me busy. You dont’t have to rush your modeling; take your time and enjoy it. When the time comes, any left over kits, paints, books, etc. will be given to my local club. It’s in my Will.[2c]

Interesting idea, but I don’t know of any such facility. Sounds like something an Americana Museum like Henry Ford Museum might consider.
