ok,i’ve read a few words about the nashorn/hornisse,hummels being based on the panzer IV chassis.then looking at the chasis it apears to have the panzer III final drive housings.that would lead me to believe that the panzerIII gear box and steering brake/clutch assemblies were also used.any light to be shed on this will be greatly appreciated.if the previous is true that means i’m heading down the wrong road with my nashorn pictured in the 1000 roadwheels g.b…thanks for any help.
detailfreak,
You’re correct. The Nashorn/Hornisse/Hummel all used the Pz III style drive-train (including transmission and steering, brakes, clutches, etc.) along with the Pz III final drives and sprockets.
looks like that trumpeter drivers compartment will have to wait for its chance to be used.maybe that brummbar.as always your information is very useful.is the nuts and bolts ref. the one to get?as far as the nashorn.anyone interested in trading refs. on a borrowing/trading basis.i cherish mine but if a member were to request something i would consider it.[tup]
In the designation it does use both vehicles numbers, III/IV. But it is grouped with the Pz IV probably because it has the 8 sets of road wheels on the IV as opposed to the 6 sets of the III. So it is correct for the 1,000 road wheels build.
The N&B series is a good one if you’re looking for a solid walk-around reference material IMHO even though I don’t have the specific one on the Nashorn, so can’t comment on it specifically.
thanks bish she’s already a part of that g.b…just needed the powertrain verified.see ya there.[tup]
How does one get to the “1000 roadwheels GB” to view it?
Thanks
