I was wondering why I never saw a battleship before with three turrets in the back! looks pretty cool. I wonder what kind of effect firing all three at once would have had on the ship?!
The Naval Design Bureau studies indicated that each turret would add another 3,000 tons to the ship’s displacement with the weight of the bigger guns, heavier-built turrets and barbettes and hull reinforcement to handle the recoil forces. The ship was also more armored than an Iowa class, but could still make nearly the same speed with the same machinery because of the efficient hull form.
