Nail Polish

how can we thin nail polish? can we use tamiya x20? or x20A?
is it enamel or acrylic based? and how can it be buffed to shine?
rubbing compound?

i noticed that nail polish is cheap and has lots of colors available.
i saw some models on the magazine that was painted with nail polish and it looks very good.
