NAA P-51 D Mustang "LOU IV"

Ok Folks, here we go! Just finished this Cadillac of the sky yesterday. It´s Hasegawa´s P-51 D, 1:48.
It´s representing the mustang of Colonel Thomas J.J. Christian Jr., commanding officer of the 361st Fighter Group, Bottisham, July 1944, short before his aircraft´s beeing shot down during strafing and Christian killed (12 august 44)

The kit:I´ve removed the dorsal fin, added some micro-tubing for the MG´s, some eduard zoom photo-etched parts for the cockpit, fast frames and aeromaster decals along with the original ones (nose art). Color is Gunze Acrylic and Alclad II White Alu and High polished alu. So, what do you think?[:)]

Sweet Jerry, really sweet

Nice, Jerry!

Makes me anxious to see the other three of the “Famous Four”! Nice job on the OD and the invasion stripes.

Fade to Black…

VERY nice! Way to go Jerry. BTW, those “Sky Bouncer” markings went out yesterday. - Ed

What book are you using for the background? The model looks great!! Thanks

Beautiful work.

Sweet looking Mustang! I hope to build the new Tamiya 1/32 P-51D

Kudos, Jerry. Very nice clean build.

Jerry,

That thing is sweet! My favorite aircraft and my favorite paint scheme! I currently have that same aircraft (Hasegawa p-51D) on my bench as my first model. As a new modeler I now have something to base my work on…looking good

Nice!

Very nice Jerry [B], a different subject and done cleanly.

Really well done… I’ve seen that aircraft done several times, but each time the builder either missed or ignored the lack of the fin fillet on that aircraft… Way to nail it !

Only one thing I noticed, and that’s the inboard .50 cal… The inboard gun’s muzzle on each wing is set back inside the blast tube, because the gun’s set back farther in the wing…
