There was a YouTube video on this morning on this ship. It jogged a memory I was actually on her. She came to San Francisco when I was a kid we went to the pier and there was a tour. I purchased the model I think it as a Revell kit
heads up the link does not work??
Original release was 1959. Several reboxings since

Aha!
You are correct! Revell had a nice line up of ships about then. From the “Queens” to the S.S.United States,The Moore-Mcormack Brazil/Argentina, Numerous freighters an oiler and of course the U.S.S.Randall, and some other fine vessels, Including the then State of the Art Hospital Ships. They kind went the way of the Do-Do though. One that has always been around is their little “Harbor Tug”. This little jewel popped up around 1955 and sporadically returned year after year.
Was it accurate? Maybe, but the nice part was it was fun to build and made a very attractive finished model, whether pristine(Just out of the Yard) or weathered till the paint chipped off! This little boat can still be found too! We must’nt forget the “Norton Sound” and the regular Seaplane Tender either!
When you build it (do you have the kit?) Take the reactor room and paint the walls A soft flat Aluminium. The Floor should be Deck Green(Bright). That’s what colors were the last time I was aboard many, many years ago.
the ship is long gone 1962 is a ways back
John3M;
Yes, that was a very long time ago by my callender too.I still have a model of it I picked up a couple of years ago under the Mexican(Lodela) label. Same ship,different box. Same great kit inside!
The NS Savannah is currently located in Baltimore, Maryland. See the web site at:

Sorry about that, I had to shut down my website. I’m looking for a new place to host the list.

It’s great to build a kit that has a “personal” connection and I hope that you enjoy the project.
That is a nice looking ship. Very sleek looking for a merchant vessel.
