N.S.E.A. Protector, Battle Damaged.

After I finished Iron Man, I was looking for a easy kit, something that I wouldnt need to spend a lot of time building it. Painting and finishing it on the other hand. [:D] I was in my local hobby shop when I found Pegasus Hobbies N.S.E.A. Protector. I started watching my copy of Galaxy Quest for detail shots and I saw that the Protector has a Aztec pattern. [:#] Movie Shots

I thought it would be cool to match a part from the movie, The part of the movie when thw Actors fought back. So I needed to match All of the battle damage. [:#] Last Movie Shot

I was trying to match the Aztec pattern from the movie but I couldnt quite make it all out, so I thought I would cheet. This is one of the prelite Star Trek kits that came out awile ago and I thought that the pattern looked kinda good on this kit

and I thought that it might look good on my kit. [:(] Boy was that a Big waste of time!

and then I painted it [+o(]

After I saw the way it was I sanded it all off and started from scratch!

Its still the same two shades that I started with, Flat White and Light Gray. Oh yeah, I added a hole where the Rock creature went through the hull and took a few bad guys with him [:)]

To get the Aztec pattern I wanted I went and bought a 1/1000 scale Enterprise for the Decals, That I used them to make copys, I had to digiataly rmoved the windows and phasers, I obesely coulndnt use the saucer markings. But i did use patterns form the secondary hull and the warp pylons. I also used marking form my 1/350 th scale enterprise as well. I stiched these pictures together for a closer look, But I should have put the bridge back on [:$] From the back looking foward Last shot for now. Foward, Port side Thank You for Looking [:D]

Looks like you put a lot of effort into this one! While it’s hard to comment on the realism of a sci-fi model, I like it as a work of art. And I love the movie too! Live long and prosper ,\V/ [:P]

Thank you. I still need to finish the bottom, pylons and the engines.

I’ve seen these at my LHS, almost picked one up last time I was there…I kind of like this subject.

Yours is certainly turning out nicely!

Thank You. I just had to make more decals to finish it, Useing these decals is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle, except most of the edeges dont match, so I need to carefuley cut them to match the edge’s. And I also need to cut the decals so the Battle Damage comes through. But When I get done I think it will look good.

Really like how the aztec pattern is coming together. Nice subtle look. Kudos!

Protector came up a treat with those aztec decals. well worth the effort. i’ve got one myself but have yet to even open the box.

i still want to know how they scraped the side without hitting the big nacelles on the wall.

Thank You

OctaneOrange. Thanks, Yeah I dont know why there isnt any damage to that engine ether after the hull scrape

Cool. That azteking looks really good.

Thank You Cosmic J. I’m almost finished, Hopefully the rest of the pattern will be easyer.

You’re welcome.

After Wonderfest this year, I got the urge to build something w/ either an Aztek scheme or digital camoflage, I just couldn’t decide what it would be.

I still haven’t figured it out, but I bookmarked this thread for when I do. [8-|]

Thank You. I made up this pattern from a few decals. The one’s I have finished and tooken pictures of are from the 1/1000 th scale Enterprise, I have been useing copy’s of the same 4 decals over and over, Its been a little bit of a challenge getting them to match the spots, the decals I used are 81,82,83 & 84. The rest of the pattern I am going to use copy’s of Acreation Models 1/350 the Enterprise decal’s

Here are a few new shots. I have finished the Main Hull ,Pylons and Engines. Back lookin foward

Finished bottom

And Top

Last shot for now. I hand scribed the scratch that Laradio made while leaving the space dock, I still need to paint it though And now I just need to figure out the correct decales to finish the rest of the Aztec pattern.

Thank You for Looking

Well I finily finished the Aztec pattern on my Protector. IMG_0374IMG_0375I was taking these picrures today and after I finished I thought I would see what the reverse side of th Blue cloth I have been useing, So I fliped it to the Gray side and I liked the look of the Gray side more and I retook all my shots. Here is another stiched together picture IMG_0377Starboard Aft

IMG_0378These next two shots are the same angle except one is agenst the Gray and the other is agenst the Blue cloth I have been useing IMG_0379IMG_0380

I think the Gray side looks better but I would like to know what you guys think? Last shot for now, Ventrail IMG_0381

Finially got that done and Now I just need to finish the tedt of it, Paint the windows, Paint the blast marks around all the damage and a few other stuff and then attach the decals that came with the kit.
