kul, it actually looks like those bugs from starship troopers. as a marine/daemonhunters/witchhunters/IG player, i dread the nids, but i think you did a good job making an alternative to the genestealers. aside from that… your pictures do suck… =P
bring the camera out a lil more and see if it’d focus on the model instead of the background, as you can crop it later anyways. or use the macro mode if the camera has one.
This is one other nid I did the next day with some parts left over on the sprew. I was trying to go for something like from the THING, mainly a head with legs.

I think they both look pretty cool I think I would favor darker colors on them but that’s just a matter of preference.

My two cents is more to do with composition than actual building and painting of those beasties, but I feel both would look more natural on larger bases. Since the legs extend from one edge of the base to the other, it makes the model feel cramped. Adding a little room around it would help. Plus, it gives you an excuse to do cool things with basing.
