My very first tank

Hi all,

this is my very first tank I ever build:
The engine thingy is open(dunno the english name) so it may look a bit weird…

here’s a picture, what do yo guys think of it?

Well, it’s much more elaborate than my first tank. I like the chipped paint effect on the skirts.
What did you make the mud with?
Thing looks like it likes to play in mud

Very nice! Looks good, can you tell us some about how you painted it? What kit is that?

It looks pretty good! Good job with the weathering and Mud.
Which kit was it?

Matt

Welcome to the forums, by the way!

Matt

Welcome Thijs. Nice little dirty kitty you have there. No doubt you will please J-Hulk for painting it grey. Hope to see more in the fututre.

You’ve done very well for your first kit. Good use of drybrushing to get scratches and wear spots. And the mud is a appropriate. You’ve captured the sag on the Tiger tracks too.
One small criticism would be the decals. They appear to be a little shiney and it looks like the one on the turret has lifted a bit. Try laying down a coat of Future acrylic floor polish, then apply your decals with a decal set / sol solution, then follow with a dull coat. This will get them to lay down every time.
All in all, very nice and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice job, thijs. Excellent paint job. I really can’t add much to what’s been said. Welcome to the forums. Glad to have you join the dark side.

(We need to get Dwight to do something for a “Darkside” badge!!)

A tiger for a first tank. How cool. Nice work.

Very nice Thijs. Welcome to the armor forum.

Very good job on your first tank. Great subject. Welcome Thijs. Have fun and hope to see more.

thijs, Nice job on your first tank! Alot more weathering than I did on my first tank.

Oh by the way nice to see another grey Tiger I out there[:D]

very nice. maybe i’ll put my first tank up when it’s done. i’m only very green my self. i like the mud a lot. maybe if you’d glossed it to make it look fresher? i don’t really know though.

Cool stuff… I just finished a Tiger, but for a first kit Good job!!

Oh by the way, Welcome.

Looks good, thijs, [tup]

let’ see some more !

THanks for your reaction guys
Let me give some answers to some of your questions…
This is a tiger 1 early production from tamiya + a tamiya engine repair set.
I painted this kit in Revell 78( gunship grey), after that i drybrushed all the metla on it with a combination of revell colour 99 (aluminium) and 91(metal)
When i dicided i wanted to have some mud at it I looked trough the forums here but I couldn’t find a method which I liked… so I tried one of my own.
First I mixed some apints together in a small bowl untill it was very dark brown… when i had enough (about 5 ml of paint) i added half a tube of revell PLasto (which yu can use to cover holes etc) and mixed it together so i had this light brownish mud-like stuff, I aplied it too the kit with a piece of wood.

some other detail on thee tank: It’s a tank of the Gross Deutschland division, Í’ve done some reasearch on it and the thing with it is that Gross deutschland never had a tank with the markings S04 (as far as I know) but i didn’t want to buy extra decails for it to make it 100% historical correct

THis tank is the 1st piece in a diorama i’m going to make.

Great first tank!
I can’t really add anything to what has already been said.

As Tigerman said, J-Hulk is indeed pleased to see a nice gray kitty! I really like that Revell 78 Gunship Gray.
Looking forward to seeing your diorama!
